Corry, PA was created in 1800, forming from seceding parts of Allegheny County. The area was named after a man named Hiram Cory, who owned the land at the Atlantic and Erie Junction. The railroad built a ticket office in his honor, but a misspelling lead to the name Corry. Corry, PA became well-known during the late 19th century and early 20th century for manufacturing Climax locomotives. Today, the Corry Area Historical Society has a museum displaying some of the early Climax steam engines.
