Randolph is a small town in Cattaraugus County, New York. As of the 2010 U.S. Census, Randolph, NY has a population of over 2,600. Randolph, NY is situated on the western part of the county, near the border of Pennsylvania and New York. The town contains a former village also called Randolph and the former village of East Randolph.
The region that is present-day Randolph, NY was first settled around the year 1820. By 1826, the town of Randolph was formed from part of the town Conewango. It received its name from Randolph, Vermont. In 1867, the village of Randolph became incorporated, while the village of East Randolph was incorporated in 1881. Decades later in 2010, these two villages voted to dissolve the incorporation, and reverted to hamlets.
