MAYVILLE – The controversy over pit bull dogs continues to simmer across the country and has generated numerous pieces of legislation, lawsuits and massive settlements in cases where the animals have attacked humans, a publication written for lawyers says.
An article in a recent issue of the National Law Journal, a weekly newspaper for attorneys, discusses the pit bull issue and, among other things, reveals that a Chautauqua County boy who had his nose ripped off by one of the dogs has received an out-of-court settlement that will net him $5,402,000 over his lifetime.
The injured boy was represented by the Jamestown law firm of Burgett & Robbins.
