Law Journal Says Jamestown Boy to Receive $5.4 Million in Pit Bull Attack Suit

MAYVILLE – The controversy over pit bull dogs continues to simmer across the country and has generated numerous pieces of legislation, lawsuits and massive settlements in cases where the animals have attacked humans, a publication written for lawyers says.

An article in a recent issue of the National Law Journal, a weekly newspaper for attorneys, discusses the pit bull issue and, among other things, reveals that a Chautauqua County boy who had his nose ripped off by one of the dogs has received an out-of-court settlement that will net him $5,402,000 over his lifetime.

The injured boy was represented by the Jamestown law firm of Burgett & Robbins.
Local Woman Settles Against Hospital And Doctor For Botched Spine Surgery

JAMESTOWN – A local woman originally injured in an auto accident who subsequently underwent disc replacement surgery settled her Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas damage suit against an Erie hospital and neurosurgeon for $2,700,000.

The woman was only 28 when she was advised she was a candidate for a disc replacement surgery by a doctor who did not possess the knowledge or skill about the procedure. The hospital that allowed the first ever performed procedure to go forward in their facility and did not inquire into the credentials and training of the doctor that requested to perform the surgery in their facility. 

The client suffered permanent damage to her spinal cord and nervous system leaving her with lifelong problems with bladder and kidney function which prevented her from returning to her job.
